All Atwitter About Twitter Brand Pages Posted on December 09, 2011 Post a comment

If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. A free lunch. A free Promoted Tweet (which usually starts at $15,000). Free brand exposure to over 100,000,000 people. A free anything for that matter.

Too good to be true? Not in new Twitter’s case. According to a post on the official Twitter blog released today, new Twitter introduced “enhanced profile pages,” which provide all of the aforementioned—well, except the free lunch.

Of all the bells and whistles these enhanced Twitter profile pages feature, the ones brands should be most interested are:

1. A larger avatar (for displaying your logo)
2. A new banner that stretches across the page (for more free ad/creative space)
3. The ability to “pin” an auto-expanded tweet at the top of your stream (that displays any linked photo or video content).

The auto-expanded, “pinned” tweet is essentially your “Promoted Tweet,” because it always sits at the top of your page’s stream, it’s always publicly visible, and always uniquely brand representative.

While the enhanced profile pages are not available to everyone and every organization yet, Twitter did release them for 21 exclusive brands, such as @BestBuy, @McDonalds, @Dell, and @JetBlue, as shown, just to name a few.

Common sense and user numbers tell us that Twitter is a compelling destination for marketers and their associated brand’s audience—now more so than ever. How do you see these new Twitter options changing the game? How will you let your brand take flight?
