Marsha Capen

Editorial Director

As a little girl growing up in Anaheim, California, Marsha wanted to be just like Shirley Temple. She and her girlfriends would get together, put on plays, sing Shirley’s songs (they had memorized them all), and tap their little hearts out. None of them had real tap shoes but Marsha thought they could make their own with some Scotch Tape and a few pennies. One tap and the pennies launched across the room. Not such a good idea, but pretty creative for a young gal. Marsha did not pursue a career in dance, but continued to leverage her creativity as she later went on to graduate with a BS degree in home economics from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California.

Marsha has continued the same type of ingenuity in her career. She’s been responsible for developing some of the most successful and popular grilling cookbooks on the market, and lead the development of Weber’s Way to Grill, which was nominated for a prestigious James Beard Award in 2010.

Prior to joining rabble+rouser in August 2005, Marsha served as director of editorial development for Weber-Stephen Products Co. where she was editor of Weber’s biannual newsletter. Before joining Weber, Marsha worked for Cotter & Company (national headquarters for True Value Hardware), where she developed and executed programs that produced incremental revenue through partnerships with the National Football League, Major League Baseball, and NASCAR.

Marsha swapped her dancing shoes for running shoes, which has allowed her to complete seven marathons.
