Scott’s expertise is honed from a unique combination of experience in both corporate and entrepreneurial environments. His most recent success was the turnaround and sale of the leading-edge marketing information firm Cohorts where he generated a fivefold return for VC investors that had previously written off their investment. Prior to his role as CEO at Cohorts, Scott held senior executive positions at the venerable automotive information powerhouse R. L. Polk & Co., as well as the innovative National Demographics & Lifestyles, Inc. (now a division of Equifax). He had P&L responsibility for $100 million portfolio of Polk’s automotive business and led the direct marketing, market research, and database marketing divisions.
Scott’s first business success after grad school was the turnaround of Chidco Microsystems Corporation. Later, as a management consultant with Browne, Bortz & Coddington, he provided critical strategic advice in the areas of database marketing, strategic planning, economic modeling, and market research. Over his career he has assisted more than 100 of the world’s leading brands, including Limited Brands, Nationwide Insurance, Panasonic Corporation, Time Warner Cable, Toyota Motor Company, and the U.S. Congress.
Scott holds MBA and BS degrees in economics, cum laude, from the University of Denver. He has extensive experience presenting to, interacting with, and leading senior management in diverse organizations and serves on the board of directors of two marketing companies. He has guest lectured at several universities including the Kellogg Graduate Business School at Northwestern, has published numerous articles, speaks frequently at marketing conferences, and is often cited as a marketing expert in the trade press. Although he doesn’t like to admit it in the office, whenever he gets a chance, he likes to curl up with a good physics book.
