In its fifth annual Best of America issue, Reader’s Digest chose to highlight a number of interesting topics from Maria Shriver’s advice on managing fame to the 19 high schools that start classes later to give teen age students more natural rest.
But we couldn’t be more delighted with the award for Best Change Agent: donation meters for the homeless. They wrote, “Putting your change in these parking meters may help change someone’s life.”
Our team at rabble+rouser developed the Denver campaign in 2006; one that has now been emulated across the country. We designed the meters as a way to increase grassroots awareness of Denver’s Ten-Year Plan to End Homelessness. Today, the Donation Meter Program is still running strong, and is projected to raise approximately one million dollars for the cause.
P.S. We built the Denver’s Road Home Web site, too.
